“En route!” to the implementation of new ideas in the field of internationalisation of higher education in Ukraine

As a member of the Ukrainian delegation, Professor Maryna Vasylieva, a representative of the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy” of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, took part in the 34th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association for International Education (EAIE). The conference was held on 17-20 September 2024 in Toulouse (France) and was symbolically titled “En route!” (Let's move forward!), which emphasises the unity of all on the path to internationalisation in education.

The EAIE Conference is the largest international conference in Europe dedicated to the internationalisation of education; an event that this year was attended by 7000+ participants from all over the world. Ukraine was provided with a separate stand at the conference, which enabled participants (including representatives of various higher education institutions) to focus on the challenges of internationalising Ukrainian education and disseminate information about opportunities in this area.

During the conference, the programme of which was intense, it was possible to take part in the work of sections in various areas: European programmes, teaching, learning, student and academic mobility, partnership, leadership strategy, politics, social responsibility, etc. We managed to meet and personally communicate with representatives of educational institutions and internationalisation agencies from different countries to establish cooperation in the international space. The meetings with current and future partners of Erasmus+ projects were pleasant.

The picturesque city of Toulouse, the rich programme of the conference, interesting discussions and new acquaintances, energy and fruitful communication with Ukrainian colleagues and representatives of different countries left a pleasant impression and encourage new achievements in the field of education in Ukraine.

The participation of the UEPA representative in the conference was made possible thanks to the support of the International Office of the Leibniz University Hannover within the DAAD project “Management of Internationalisation and German-Ukrainian Academic Cooperation 2024”, (MoI Ukraine) as a participant of the 3rd cohort of the project.

We would like to thank DAAD-German Academic Exchange Services and Leibniz University Hannover, the administration of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and Nataliia Butych, coordinator of the project “Management of Internationalisation and German-Ukrainian Academic Cooperation 2024” (MoI Ukraine), for providing support for the conference.
